Intelligent logistics concept
It all started with Jeremy Moon's idea and his enthusiasm for merino wool. After holding a piece of 100% merino wool fabric in his hands for the first time, Moon immediately fell in love with the material and decided to make it a brand. He was so convinced of his idea that he invested his entire fortune in Icebreaker. Together with eight investors he started the production of the first designs. The pure natural product and the wearing comfort of the clothes led Icebreaker to success. What started as a small idea is now a successful brand that is available in more than 4,700 stores in 50 countries.
Icebreaker, the world's leading manufacturer of functional merino wool clothing and accessories for men, women and children, is planning further expansion in Northern Europe. Icebreaker's sales volume has doubled to 2 million pieces since 2009. The growth and consolidation of markets made it necessary to consolidate the distribution warehouse. In particular, the parameters of incoming and outgoing goods have changed. Increased performance is the goal.
The solution: automation and intelligent supply of all sales channels.
Meyer & Meyer takes care of the logistical performance: In order to cope with the volume growth of Icebreaker, the handling of the logistics in our warehouse in Osnabrück was changed from a manual to an automated process structure. The automation now makes it possible to supply all B2B and B2C orders from one inventory. In a newly introduced warehouse management system, inventories are initially reserved for one sales channel. Should demand develop differently than expected via one channel, the quantities in the system will be adjusted at short-term and flexibly allocated to the distribution channel with the increased demand.
Meyer & Meyer has also optimised its customs services in the course of the process change. Previously, inventories had to be stored in separate areas depending on the destination country and customs requirements. Thanks to a new software solution, this physical separation could be eliminated and virtually mapped in the customs system. The warehousing processes for Icebreaker's European business have thus been adapted to the increased volume requirements.
Performance through experience and know-how. Meyer & Meyer - your fashion partner - from sheep to shop!
"Icebreaker stands for quality and sustainability. In our 10 years of cooperation with Meyer & Meyer, we have also been able to implement these principles in logistics and thus become so successful in Europe. »
