Cyber attack on logistics company

On 6 December 2022, the IT systems of the Osnabrück-based logistics company Meyer & Meyer were the target of a criminal attack. According to the company, the most urgent priority since then has been the securing and protection of company data and the secure fulfilment of customer orders. At this time, the extent and consequences of the incident cannot be conclusively assessed, it said.

"We reacted quickly and decisively to the targeted attack," says Björn Plantholt, responsible for corporate communications at Meyer & Meyer. "Our IT systems were isolated. Together with a specialised IT partner, we are working flat out to provide our customers with the usual performance." The company had immediately informed its employees and business partners about the development and was working closely with law enforcement and data protection authorities.

Meyer & Meyer was able to maintain part of its business operations despite shutdown systems by switching to manual processes. Björn Plantholt: "This criminal act affects our business. We are proceeding with the utmost care and responsibility to solve the challenges entirely in the interest of our employees and business partners. At the same time, we are in close contact with our partners and are grateful for the support they and numerous companies, especially from the region, have given us."
