Around 50 students were invited to the Bremer Brücke, where they met representatives from five companies – including Meyer & Meyer. Claire Hatton, Director of People & Culture, Angelique Schlüter, HR Manager, and Lara Elskamp, HR Manager, gave the participants a first-hand insight into the company’s career opportunities.
“The personal exchanges, which were tailored precisely to individual needs, were particularly valuable,” emphasises Claire. “The discussions were a perfect fit, both professionally and personally. This allowed us to address specific questions and explore interests in greater depth.” Not least, the companies had significantly more time for the participants, as the appointments had been organised in advance.
The students also drew a positive conclusion. “We received a lot of praise for the open dialogue and the high relevance of the discussions,” reports Claire. “The participants particularly appreciated that the format was completely free of time pressure.
The VfL MATCHDAY.Karriere impressively demonstrated how important face-to-face meetings are in the recruitment process and how effectively they help to target talent and inspire lasting enthusiasm. “We were delighted to have this opportunity and are looking forward to future career events organised by VfL Osnabrück,” Claire concluded.
A Home Game for Career: Recruitment Event at VfL Osnabrück
With its MATCHDAY.Karriere event on 19 March 2026, VfL Osnabrück breathed new life into the often monotonous world of traditional career events. Instead of chance encounters, the focus here was on targeted matching – that is, discussions between companies and students that were precisely tailored to the interests and needs of the participants.
