We want to leave our mark.
A sustainable one.

Founded more than 110 years ago, Meyer & Meyer combines tradition with technological and social progress, making us a modern and attractive business. Whether it’s in management, warehouse and logistics halls, on the roads or in the Meyer & Meyer family: in recent years, environmental sustainability and social responsibility have become a cornerstone of our company. With our state-of-the-art fleet, we not only get our customers’ and partners’ products to their destinations safely and on time – we do it in the most energy-efficient and eco-friendly way possible.

To comply with our environmental standards, we rely on a comprehensive environmental management system. We also have a sustainable approach to our energy management, relying on renewable energies as much as we can. At Meyer & Meyer, family is important. That’s why we make our staffs` return to work after parental leave quick and easy, whether it’s through flexible work hours or childcare support. We also take care of our employees’ health, and offer many different opportunities for them to develop their professional and management skills.

Driven by the environment. Powered by innovation.

Electric Mobility & LNG

Busy companies consume lots of energy. So when it comes to reducing our carbon footprint, every gram of CO2 we can cut makes a difference. Both our fleet and our transport partners make use of state-of-the-art technology, and we aim to ensure that all vehicles meet the Euro 6 emissions standard. To further reduce our own carbon emissions, we were among the first to trial electric trucks. A pilot project in 2010 saw two electric trucks deployed in the Berlin/Brandenburg region, and was supported by the German Department for Transport and Digital Infrastructure. We were the first company in Germany to deploy electric trucks in the <12 tonnes class for urban use. As well as decreasing our environmental impact, this has helped to reduced noise pollution. Since 2019, we have also been using an e-truck for local transport distribution in the Peine area. Through this and the use of LNG trucks, we ensure lower emissions and an improved climate footprint compared to conventional trucks.
In the RouteCharge research project, Meyer & Meyer played a leading role in the development of an e-truck with alternating battery technology, which will be used to cover medium distances for the first time.

Volume Equipment

Meyer & Meyer has been operating extra-long vehicles for more than 14 years: in 2007 and between 2012 and 2016, we participated in test phases and field trials conducted by the state of North Rhine-Westphalia and the German Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure. Instead of the usual 18.75 meters overall length, the vehicles often referred to as Giga-Liners have an overall length of up to 25.25 meters. They are ideal for transporting goods that take up a lot of volume but are not heavy - in fact, the permissible total weight here is also 40 tons. Due to the higher transport volume, the use of a long truck can replace 1.5 conventional transports. This saves fuel and reduces CO2 emissions.
We also increase our efficiency by using XXL swap bodies. As these offer a higher transport volume than standard trailers, we save 10% CO2 compared to these.

Solar panels

We also use our large facilities at our Osnabrück headquarters to generate renewable energy. With six huge solar panels, Meyer & Meyer is the largest solar panel operator in the Osnabrück area, generating around 920,000 kWh of electricity each year – equivalent to the amount used by around 220 single family homes. We use this self-generated energy, which we also produce with our own cogeneration units and an innovative combined cooling-heat-and-power-process, to supply parts of our company headquarters. Any surplus energy is fed into the local grid. Overall, this allows us to reduce our carbon emissions by more than 850 tonnes every year.

At the same time, we are actively working on becoming as efficient as possible in how we consume energy, for example, through energy-efficient lighting concepts for workspaces such as motion sensors, energy-efficient lamps and automatic timers.

Cutting-edge technology

To ensure fast, direct logistics, our fleet and drivers are supported by the very latest technology. In addition to capturing telemetric data, we plan our routes using innovative fleet telematics software. And because technology is only as good as the people who operate it, we provide all our staff with regular training.
To make the CO2 emissions measurable for each transported piece, an interdisciplinary team has developed a CO2 calculator. This enables us to collect and analyze the telematics data from all vehicles bundled in our transport management software and to calculate the most accurate CO2 evaluations on this basis.
