Additional 25,000 m2 for storing shoes and garments
Osnabrück, 26 June 2015. Osnabrück-based fashion logistics specialist Meyer & Meyer has expanded its Peine site by commissioning a new 25,000 m2 warehouse for packaged and folded garments. At the official opening on 26 June 2015, the ceremonial ribbon was cut by Managing Partner Michael Meyer, Mayor of Peine Michael Kessler and Alexander Preisler, CEO of Meyer & Meyer Warehousing Services GmbH. The new warehouse was completed after just eight months of construction and boasts storage space for around half a million packages. Roughly 20 million euros was invested in the project.
The new warehouse is located in the Peine-Ost industrial area, very close to Meyer & Meyer’s logistics centre for hanging garments that opened in 2006. Like the existing hanging garments centre, the new warehouse was developed by Prologis Inc., an owner, operator and developer of logistics facilities. “The new centre will support the continued growth of our customers in Peine, and accommodate increased demand for goods packaging,” explains Michael Meyer. “Peine is a strategically important location for us, and the warehouse perfectly complements our existing hanging garment centre.” Meyer & Meyer will use the new building as a distribution centre for fashion and lifestyle products. The warehouse is located between two major transport routes – the A2 motorway and the Mittelland Canal – so it’s very well connected. It is currently equipped with two stages that provide an additional 10,000 m2 of floor space. “The majority of the space is already being utilised by our customers,” says Alexander Preisler.
