The 2020 project was launched together with the customer with the aim of using a shipping carton made exclusively of recycled materials. In the meantime, the new cardboard boxes, which consist of 30 % grass paper and 70 % recycled paper, are successfully in use. The grass areas required for this are unused compensation areas and the rapidly renewable raw material is an optimal method for producing the required grass pallets without chemicals. A positive side effect: the production of corrugated board with grass content is not only more resource-efficient, it also produces fewer greenhouse gases. After several samples and tests, the first types of cardboard were produced and in May 2021 the cardboard was gradually converted to the sustainable alternative.
