Meyer & Meyer is a "family-friendly employer in the Osnabrück region"
At the award ceremony on 14th September 2017, CHRO Maren Fathmann accepted the seal, which was awarded for the first time by twelve different cooperation partners from the city and district of Osnabrück. In his welcoming address, Sven Ruschhaupt, Managing Director of the Chamber of Skilled Crafts, referred to the importance of family-friendly offers as an important competitive factor for attracting and retaining qualified employees. District Administrator Dr. Michael Lübbersmann reminded once again of the application process in which the companies had to provide offers for each of the criteria "corporate culture", "financial support", "working time, place and organisation", "personnel development", "planned measures", "service offer" and "individual advice". The procedure had been developed by various institutions: In addition to the family alliances and business development agencies of the city and district of Osnabrück, the diocese of Osnabrück, the Chamber of Crafts and Trades and the Industrial Employers' Association Osnabrück - Emsland - Grafschaft Bentheim, the Coordination Office Women & Business e.V. and the Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences were involved. The information provided by the companies was checked on site by a selection jury between May and August 2017. "During our audit, we first presented our family-friendly offers in a presentation and then, together with the jury, visited our crèche "Die Fledder-Mäuse" and our parent-child office. In addition, parents, who use our different offers, reported on their experiences , describes Maren Fathmann the application procedure. Osnabrück’s town councillor Wolfgang Beckermann referred in its speech also to the economical factor of a family-friendly policy, which leads as to smaller patient ratios and more content and thus more productive employees. " Do not let up in innovatively sharpening your employer profile," he appealed to the winners. At the end, Prof. Barbara Schwarze from the Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences talked about some studies. For example, she talked about a survey conducted by the management consultancy Ernst & Young among students throughout Germany, which showed that the family is even more important to the students than friends or career advancement. She also quoted from a study by Kienbaum, also a consulting company, according to which collegiality and the balance between career and leisure time mean more to graduates than career or further training. "I am extremely pleased that our diverse measures to reconcile family and career have now also received external awards! This strengthens our position as an attractive employer in the Osnabrück region and is an incentive for us to further expand our offerings in the future. This is particularly relevant in view of the importance of family-friendly offers for the generation that will soon be entering the labour market," says Maren Fathmann.
